  • HOMAG Automation at the Xylexpo 2016
structured surfaces and relief panels are especially fascinating in the field of materials What seemed to be impossible for a long time HOMAG Automation now will demonstrate live in action with its horizontal storage system TLF 211 at the XYLEXPO 2016 Panels with structured surfaces are for the first time moved through a horizontal storage system in Milan The specialty Normally it is not possible to create a continuous vacuum for panel transport because of their structures However the engineers of the HOMAG Group handling specialist found a way 3D Scanner and Cardboard box Cutting Machine VKS error free measuring intelligent packing High quality fronts individual furniture parts or assembled furniture goods have correct to be packed in order to arrive at end consumer s site without damage For this the package sets important optical stimuli because it is the first what the end consumer will see when receiving his goods The combination of the cardboard box cutting machine VKS 250 and 3D volume scanner is new at the Milan exhibition Thus HOMAG Automation makes packaging an experience No matter which object is being scanned length width and height are measured just in time This is how it works The

  • Publishing bookbindery Conzella: Customized packaging solution from batch size 1
customers packed into cartons At this point in the logistics chain one could not yet recognize an optimum Because the books often did not fit exactly into cartons on pre configured standard cardboards Therefore Conzella decided in favor of the HOMAG Automation cardboard box cutting machine VKS 250 Before we had the VKS 250 we held available about 70 different carton sizes in our storage but from those 70 60 often didn t fit and could only be managed with difficulties Now we have 30 spaces with corrugated cardboard and produce exactly the cardboard that we need says Thomas Sparrer location manager Conzella enthusiastically The cardboard is prepared directly at the cardboard box cutting machine VKS 250 and can quickly be changed if necessary However not only the flexibility the fitting accuracy of the cartons and the individual cutting were decisive for the purchase of the machine Due to the additionally provided gluing station the previously cut closure flaps are automatically glued Thus eliminating a cumbersome fiddling with tape at Conzella and each book format gets its exactly fitting packaging For us the VKS 250 has the advantage that we can produce small quantities at particularly low cost Compared to

  • High degree of prefabrication allows for top-quality timber frame construction
the site Start of automated production To implement the decision to move into timber frame construction CCG decided to invest in an automated production line WEINMANN was the obvious choice for CCG to move forward because the WEINMANN line allows them to produce buildings to the highest quality maintaining sustainability in areas of cost and environmental management The production line consists of a WBS saw a framing station a multifunction bridge several assembly tables and a distribution trolley Also a panel saw of HOLZMA is used in the production WEINMANN and HOLZMA are both part of the HOMAG Group The production starts with the high speed linear saw machine WBS which cuts and processes the required truss parts and wall panel components Parallel to this process the HOLZMA panel saw cuts the sheathing The next step in the process is performed by the framing station WEM which manufactures the complete frame work semi automatically The finished frame work is transported to the end of the out feed table and passed to the next working table for the subsequent step Now the sheathing is positioned on the frame work and fastened and processed automatically by the multifunction bridge The element is automatically turned by the so called butterfly turning table which consists of two assembly tables Here insulation is placed into the frame and further sheathing closes the panel Depending on the final design of the houses the panel receives further layers This leads into nearly completed panels apart from the final outside finish The multifunction bridge fastens and processes the element layer by layer The finished elements can be stored in a vertical storage For the commissioning of panels inside the storage as well as for the loading of the trucks the distribution trolley can be used Wide product range This production line allows CCG to manufacture and construct effectively at speed meaning further cost savings are made at site level these are all aspects that help in obtaining and retaining clients Chris also tells us that they can look at a broader range of projects and sectors with the production line This is really important for CCG OSM because of the fragility of the Scottish housing market To guarantee that the production line met CCGs requirements and is highly flexible WEINMANN and CCG OSM worked really close together The flexibility is shown in the possibility to produce open elements as well as closed elements Furthermore not only wall elements but also roof and ceiling elements can be produced This was an important point for CCG because they want to be able to provide their customers with the complete package Now they can provide a full suite of products for the projects of CCG Scotland Ltd as well as for external clients offering complete flexibility in the choice of specification Upon establishing the 4 stage production line in the year 2010 the UK was in the grasp of its worst financial crisis in decades CCG Scotland Ltd took a brave

  • Weingärtner Holzbau - Beam processing at a day's notice
an advantage for small to medium sized carpentry businesses This was exactly the case for Weingärtner Holzbau We were able to buy the ma chine without having to do any expensive hall modifications especially as the machine doesn t re quire any special floor reinforced foundations or even a pit underneath the machine remembers Roland Weingärtner As the price was also affordable and WEINMANN is located nearby the decision was obvious for me More flexibility in element production Before serious work began on the Geroldsauer Mühle project the employees at Weingärtner Holzbau began to familiarize themselves with the new technology in a sample project They were surprised from the start We did not think that the data transfer with the Weto Viskon soft ware that we use would be so smooth from the very beginning remembers Ro land Weingärtner The carpenter was also impressed by the user friendliness of the machine Naturally you call the service team at the beginning because you don t know which but ton to press But that soon stops be cause you receive good advice and the machine is easy to operate When the employee tasked with using the WBS 140 attended the master training I was easi ly able to take over his tasks For me that means that the overall package for the machine is right including remote di agnostics via Inter net and a prompt de livery service for spare parts The advantages of fully automatic beam processing became obvious to Roland Weingärtner once the mill project had started The fact that the WBS 140 can be operated by one employee and even automatically i e with no personnel involvement as an option paid off The employee in the hall was able to put the timber frame elements together on the in house assembly table while the machine completed the beam processing for the next element However that only works if as is the case at Weingärtner Holzbau all components are run through the WBS 140 element by element Ad vantages in element assembly make up for slight disadvantages in cut optimization The latter also works in this procedure if you place remaining wood for the next element on the supply roller conveyor as the first component and enter the length in the machine In Baden Baden the material supply and outfeed are de signed for components up to 13 70 m in length But Roland Weingärtner has al ready run 18 m long angle rafters through the machine However to allow us to process this length we had to cut holes in the hall walls In the Geroldsauer Mühle project Weingärtner originally planned to erect the three tracts in succession from right to left However there was a delay in the completion of the lift shaft in the central tract As the clock was ticking for my brother we couldn t afford to wait for the lift shaft to be completed We had no choice we had to put up the
