  • The Venture Series – 8 Years to the benefit of the customer
solutions HOMAG provides the high end range of the CNC technology including 5 axis technology and band edging equipment This group strategy has been well established in the course of the years By August this year about 4000 Venture machines were successfully put in operation by HOMAG and WEEKE since 2004 So what exactly are the factors guaranteeing the continued success of the Venture processing centers by WEEKE and HOMAG in spite of the global economic crisis increasing raw material prices global competition and inflation More information Keyword Made in Germany Despite the cost pressure the Venture machines of WEEKE and HOMAG are still exclusively manufactured and developed further in Herzebrock and Schopfloch Germany the much discussed production site is and will remain a relatively expensive country in terms of labor costs However it plays an absolute pioneering role with respect to technology and quality And we take this fact into account because WEEKE and HOMAG rely on Made in Germany Our customers value this as well as our employees do Tobias Schaible managing director and responsible for Sales Marketing and Service at WEEKE explains Of course there are also products manufactured at production sites in China India or the USA This is a strategy to put us in a position to maintain important shares in the local markets and gain new shares as well With the low price structure of these markets this can only be achieved by a local production The machines built at these locations are based on a simple technological standard and offered in a very small variety compared to the global market Moreover the reduced costs for transport and import represent further potential savings enabling us to compete with the prices of local competitors On these markets however inquiries involving higher technological demands are still served by the Venture series This global mixed strategy ensures full employment high production capacity utilization and finally secures jobs at the German production sites in Herzebrock and Schopfloch After all the core values of the HOMAG Group are satisfied customers satisfied employees and satisfied investors Made in Germany has tradition and therefore we feel obligated to always meet this well established quality standard Our commitment is to maintain the trust our customers place in us in the long run For this reason each of our Venture machines is manufactured here in Germany Mr Schaible adds Keyword Quality The Venture series offers among others the following quality characteristics Closed cable conduits and linear guides have been included in the standard since the very beginning in 2003 this is not common practice in this market segment In addition the ecoPlus components such as e g the controlled extraction connection which ensures that the extraction power is only activated where it is actually needed are also included as standard features of all Ventures Some Venture versions are already provided with a machine frame made of high tech material for intensive solid wood processing By high speed vibration absorption the material SORB TECH

  • Truly impressive: Double-end tenoner FPR 260
450 mm to 2 100 mm to provide greater stability at the infeed The transverse profiler FPR 266 has also benefitted from an adjustment to the magazine With a rear wall which lifts upwards automatically at an inclined angle now forming a standardized feature of the FPR 266 magazine boards are effectively prevented from becoming wedged between the rear wall of the magazine and the transport chain In previous models the magazine rear wall only moved in the horizontal direction making it more difficult to release wedged boards Enhanced quality with transport chain system The new FPR 260 series can be equipped with different variants of the familiar high precision HOMAG transport chain system Using the standard transport chain during longitudinal profiling it is only possible to process boards with a minimum width of 138 mm For profiling narrower boards offset chain plates are used such as the W2 version for board widths of 75 mm or W1 for board widths of 57 mm Double end tenoners for parquet processing are fitted with high precision chain plates to ensure superlative quality Precise chain guidance Steel strips on the horizontal and vertical guide surfaces of the chain guide rail ensure almost wear free and precise chain guidance Special deflectors with polygon compensation at the infeed and outfeed additionally guarantee extremely smooth chain running Simple displacement of the top pressure beam Alongside the transport chain system the top pressure beam has also been optimized with improved setting facility for different profile depths In previous models integration of the necessary spacers was only possible by removing the complete beam This has now been replaced by a simple fast solution which entails displacing the top pressure beam manually along the guide allowing the spacers to be inserted 25 speed increase The Optimat FPR 220 double end tenoners permit feed rates of up to 80 m min The new 260 series is capable of maximum speeds of up to 100 m min Up to eight processing positions The 220 series allows users up to six processing positions on each side of the machine The new 260 series is available with both six and eight positions Swivel fixtures fitted with spindle and work can be optionally integrated for the trimming motors Another newly developed feature is a servo controlled unit designed specifically for trimming the tongues of the 5G S transverse profile This is an optional feature and can be used independently of the machine type Other features which have been optimized in the new series include an additional motor output of 11 kW a 150 mm diameter extraction port for trimming units 120 mm in series 220 and ergonomically optimized machine panelling The FPR 260 series will provide customers with sound machines at an affordable price designed to provide enhanced processing quality for higher productivity Moving not mountains but boards A particular highlight of the new FPR 260 series is the FPR 262 random length transverse profiler In terms of its equipment features and output

  • HOMAG Group optimizes production of dividing and profiling lines for wooden and laminate flooring
wearing parts in accordance with the specified maintenance intervals Settings necessary for the inspection and defined maintenance work are executed in cooperation with the responsible maintenance and operating staff The plant is checked for signs of wear appr 500 hours prior to the maintenance interval and a suitable diagnostic analysis is carried out Because the procedures used here are set out in specified checklists any problem parts which may not be included in the defined maintenance package will still be picked up Replacements can then be made available in good time and mounted during the next maintenance interval The spare and wearing parts in the plant are exchanged according to the defined intervals for the maintenance packages With its many years of experience the HOMAG Group is ideally qualified to put together the ideal maintenance package for every specific plant Wood and laminate flooring technology is moving forward at a headlong pace with new developments in surface processing or and new connection technologies such as click or fold down profiles These product developments frequently call for further development and modification of existing machines and plants The following conditions have to be fulfilled to ensure optimum implementation of these new developments for production Perfect documentation of the machines on the manufacturer s premises in other words not only the as delivered condition of the machine needs to be clarified with the aid of drawings and bills of material but all previous conversion processes have to be meticulously recorded The deployment of experienced engineers who are familiar with the operating requirements and know how to correctly dimension the relevant capacities is essential This means that any incoming enquiry is checked with meticulous care by the HOMAG Group conversion departments and processed in direct cooperation with the development department On this basis the

  • HOMAG trimming unit for 5GS profiles
in the field of synchronous workpiece processing using stand alone controls was implemented in developing the solution Because the system uses a separate control provided an add on length of 570 mm is available any customary machine control system available on the market can be mounted The trimming unit was designed in the basic version for an initial output of 80 cycles corresponding to 32 m min with a dog spacing of 400 mm and possible workpiece widths of up to 300 mm Other performance stages are already under development with the next level up providing 120 cycles min and a high end version aiming to achieve 200 cycles Practical experience gained to date on a parallel basis with already supplied trimming units was transposed 1 1 into the concept finding phase for the additional performance stages helping to accelerate the time to market The guaranteed positioning accuracy of the profile relative to the workpiece is 0 5 mm Synchronicity is ensured by the use of suitable sensors in conjunction with precise control technology which also allows highly dynamic angular correction in front of each dog Another benefit of the tooling concept is that due to the predetermined tooth geometry of the tool coupled with a short engagement time no additional tooth to tooth tolerances are created for instance in comparison to the screw cutter so eliminating the need for the complex measurement of the spacing between individual teeth Input of the workpiece width or rather the point of engagement is generally carried out for maximum simplicity and traceability using a separate screen When using Homatic based machine control systems if required this can even be added to the existing operating monitor so that there is hardly any notable difference to the menu guidance and the need for a second
